So : this is a set of double-shot PBT caps. I got these because the ABS caps my keyboard came with were getting a bit slick and oily.
The caps feel nice, there's no obvious warping or defects like you might sometimes get on a double-shot PBT set. These are definitely an upgrade in terms of feel, and a little in terms of sound, from an ABS doubleshot set.
For a tenner this is an entirely reasonable purchase. If and when I decide to upgrade, I will move this to another board that currently has ABS keys (and North facing LEDs so I will get proper shine through). For now, I'm enjoying it.
You should be aware of the following before you buy :
Firstly, the listing is correct in that this doesn't have UK legends. If you can touchtype, this is fine.
Secondly, the shine through port on these is North-facing. If you have a keyboard with South-facing LEDs, like many of the Keychron offerings, you'll get very limited shine through.
If you can touchtype in the dark ... this is also fine.
And last but not least : despite what the listing says ; this doesn't _quite_ have enough caps for a perfect ISO layout. This is an ANSI set with some variant cap sizes. It definitely comes with enough size variants for the shift and function keys to have a good try, but ...
An ISO layout has a #~ key ; this set does not. However ... ANSI does not have a key that would go where this key would (because of the wider enter key), which means there are no spare caps with the same row profile height as e.g. the neighbouring '@ key (or rather the ' " key cap in this set).
I ended up substituting a spare "End" key into this slot. I compared the neighbouring key to all the spare keys in the set, and this was one of the ones with the nearest cap height. This is the only key on an for which there was not an appropriately sized or profiled cap. (f
I'm not sure if this is going to bother me or not. You can just about tell the key has some extra height if you're feeling for it. I typed some commands involving tildes and don't find it terrible.
The stems on these are quite snug fits as well, there's honestly probably more height difference on some keys from my variable pressure pushing them home. I'm guessing it's one of those "only noticeable when you think about it" things like a stuck pixel at the edge of your monitor, and I'll just forget about it after a day or two.
